Classic Cornbread

(My favorite)


1 cup yellow corn meal

1/3 cup flour

3 tsp baking powder

2/3 cup milk

1 egg beaten

3 tablespoons Canola Oil (optional)

3 tablespoons sugar

Preheat Oven to 450 degrees.

Oil an 8 inch round cake pan, or preheat a cast iron skillet in the oven while the oven is preheating.

Combine All Dry ingredients. Add milk egg and oil. Stir Well.


If you are using a cast iron skillet place 1 tablespoon canola oil in hot pan. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 15-25 minutes or until golden brown,.


Some notes about this recipe this is a sweet cornbread if you don't like sweet cornbread omit the sugar.

Personally I love this cornbread recipe, add 1 chopped jalapeno if you like it spicy. Found on the Pioneer cornmeal bag.
